The late Paul Mullin's partner Rozzi and sons were among hundreds of people who gathered to celebrate the life of the late Molong Express publisher.

Family, friends, industry colleagues, and much of the population of Molong, in the Central West, gathered on Saturday, 20 April, to celebrate the life of newspaper publisher Paul Mullins.

Paul, originally from Canberra, had owned and run the historic Molong Express for 25 years before his untimely passing on 5 April.

More than 200 people attended the wake at Freemasons Hotel in Molong.

Representatives of Cudal, Yeoval, Cumnock, and Orange – other townships also covered by the Express – also travelled to the event.

Paul was known for treating all people equally whatever their station in life, and at the wake politicians, business people, and shire councillors rubbed shoulders with regular pub patrons and sporting club volunteers.

He was not only a supporter of Molong in voice, he was actively “hands on” in the town, serving on the committees of many local clubs and organisations, including at one time being elected to Cabonne Council.

Paul was also passionate about the future of country newspapers and worked hard over the years to support the activities of Country Press NSW Inc.

The Molong Express has temporarily suspended operations, due to this tragic event, but Rozzi Smith, Paul’s partner, and editor, intends that this mighty local publication will be back in force by Spring.
